Berthold Laufer (1874 - 1934) was a celebrated sinologist, anthropologist and orientalist. From 1893 - 1895 he studied in Berlin and had courses in Persian, Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese, Manchu, Mongolian and Tibetan.
